Description of Work
Precision Concrete Construction performed masonry and structural modification work at River Dell High School as part of an interior renovation program. The scope centered on creating new openings through existing load-bearing masonry walls to reconfigure interior spaces and improve building circulation.
Work included precision cutting of new doorway openings through existing CMU block and tile-clad walls, installation of structural steel lintels to carry loads above the new openings, and temporary shoring and bracing to maintain structural stability during the modification process. The project required careful demolition techniques within the occupied school building to control dust, noise, and debris.
New CMU masonry infill walls and metal stud framing were constructed to define the reconfigured spaces, with grouted connections to existing structure for structural continuity.
Scope Summary
• Selective demolition of existing masonry walls for new openings
• Structural steel lintel installation
• Temporary shoring and bracing of existing structure
• New CMU block wall construction and masonry infills
• Occupied-space construction with dust and noise controls
