Description of Work
Precision Concrete Construction served as the concrete subcontractor for the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s Salt Shed and Garage facility. This was a major structural concrete project involving the construction of large-scale cast-in-place concrete walls, foundations, and structural elements for the new NJDOT maintenance facility.
The scope required extensive formwork systems for tall cast-in-place concrete walls designed to retain road salt and withstand the associated corrosive environmental conditions. Heavy reinforcing steel cages with epoxy-coated rebar were assembled and placed prior to concrete pours. Concrete was delivered via boom pump truck to reach the elevated wall forms, with crews managing continuous pours to ensure monolithic wall sections.
The project represented a large scale structural concrete scope, involving crane support for form setting, a large union labor force on-site, and strict compliance with NJDOT specifications for state infrastructure. Upon form stripping, the finished concrete walls exhibited clean, uniform surfaces meeting the Department’s architectural and structural requirements.
